Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • ½ cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • ¾ cup M&Ms regular or seasonal colors
  • Optional: 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Mix the wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, maple syrup, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Add dry ingredients: Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined—do not overmix.
  • Fold in add-ins: Gently fold in mini marshmallows, M&Ms, and nuts if using.
  • Bake the bars: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick comes out mostly clean (a few gooey crumbs are fine).
  • Cool and cut: Allow to cool completely before slicing into bars.

Notes

  • Use seasonal M&Ms for themed occasions (e.g., red & green for Christmas, pastel for Easter).
  • Bars will be soft and gooey—chill for cleaner slices.
  • Substitute maple syrup with honey or golden syrup if preferred.
