Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh seedless watermelon cubed
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice about 2 limes
  • 3 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz orange liqueur or use fresh orange juice for fewer calories
  • ½ –1 teaspoon agave syrup or honey optional, to taste
  • Ice for shaking and serving
  • Salt or Tajín for rimming glasses (optional)
  • Lime wedges and watermelon slices for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Juice the watermelon:
  • Add the cubed watermelon to a blender and blend until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or measuring cup to remove pulp (optional for a smoother drink).
  • Mix the margarita:
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine 1 cup of the watermelon juice, lime juice, tequila, orange liqueur (or juice), and agave syrup if using. Add a handful of ice and shake well for about 15–20 seconds.
  • Prepare the glasses:
  • If desired, rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glasses and dip into salt or Tajín for a spicy twist.
  • Serve:
  • Fill glasses with ice and strain the margarita mixture into each. Garnish with a lime wedge or small watermelon slice.

Notes

  • For a frozen version, freeze watermelon cubes first and blend with the other ingredients instead of shaking.
  • To make a mocktail, skip the tequila and liqueur and replace with sparkling water or a splash of orange juice.
  • Adjust sweetness to taste based on how sweet your watermelon is.
